There is no Woodsman. There is no Saviour.
This series is based on the 1697 version of Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault. The fairy tale was originally written as a 'verse moral'. It was intended as a warning for the women of the French court to remain chaste and to be warry of the sexual advances of the men of the Versaille court. This series explores the evolution of the representation of the iconic charcters in contemporary society. The gender donimance is shifted as too is the location of the woods to an urban setting.
"Moral: Children, especially attractive, well bred young ladies, should never talk to strangers, for if they should do so, they may well provide dinner for a wolf. I say "wolf," but there are various kinds of wolves. There are also those who are charming, quiet, polite, unassuming, complacent, and sweet, who pursue young women at home and in the streets. And unfortunately, it is these gentle wolves who are the most dangerous ones of all." - Charles Perrault, Le Petit Chaperon Rouge.
